Supreme Court, "de minimus", IDEA,
What is the level of services a school district must provide? In this case the government said a public school district need only off an education that is more than de minimus. The bottom line in this article is at what level of services do school districts need to provide to students with Individualized Education Plans.
This article was both informative and also concerning. I feel this case is vital to the education of people with disabitlies across the country. I personally did not know just how different the level of education is around the country. The article mentions the same IEP was re-used every year to meet the needs of a student who was clearly developing and growing over this time period. I cannot imagine this occuring here in Oregon with all the laws we have in place and how much awareness the parents are given during the IEP process. I am hoping this case breaks the mold and creates a more uniform way students with disabilities are taught in the this country.
