Key points: That cyberbullying continues to exist and be an issue. Students are likely to participate in cyberbullying if their friends are doing it, but iIf students know that teachers and parents will enforce consequences for cyberbullying then it is less likely to occur.
Intended audience: Teachers, parents and school personnel.
Relevance: Shows how much of an influence teachers and parents do have on students and their actions. Also demonstrates that there is probably a need to have this topic discussed at schools more openly. With the way technology continues to expand it will be easier to cyber bully others. From my experience, it's nice that schools put up no bullying signs and appear to support the idea, but actions will have a bigger affect.
This hits a very sensitive spot for me. Last year the cyber bullying was so bad in the 5th grade class. There was one student who wanted to commit suicide because of the bullying. It saddens me to see this even within the adult community as well. We need to be more mindful as educators to promote respectful social skills among our students.
