Relevance: Generally, the highest performing schools are in areas of parents with high income or high educational backgrounds. This is not always the case in high performing schools, and this article shows some of the factors that make schools higher performing.
The principal from View Acres, in Milwaukie, stressed the importance of building good habits in kindergarten and getting the students to talk about what they are learning and share their thinking. As they share in their learning, effective knowledge assimilation takes. This reminds me of Vygotsky’s social constructivism.
