Expanding Equity and Opportunity Through Strong Student Supports

Key points: Being able to have all children experience the joy of learning and success and to provide all children with strong supports so that they can all have the chance to succeed. President Obama Launched the "My Brothers Keeper" act also known as MBK to ultimately help all young people reach their full potential. The MBK act focuses on reaching children when intervention is most critical to help change the chance a child has for success.
The main focus that Obama created was to make sure that even children of color and from lower economic classes are all provided with the same opportunities as any other child. In doing so he also made sure that schools are made to be safe places for children to want to succeed as well as passing laws ensuring that children have physical activity, nutritious food, and services available for students healthy growth and development.
Relevance: This story is very relevant to current education because lack of resources definitely sets children up for failure. Just because children are born into lower in come families and can not provide the same things that higher SES families can does not mean that these children don't deserve to have a chance at success. Many low income/title one schools are given many more resources to help ensure that their students have the resources they need to be able to succeed and I think this article show cases why things like that are important in the success of our future generations.
