With all the differences out in the world and the issues we see in the media due to these differences, I believe we have a responsibility to teach our students about them. As an educator at a title I school this hits home because our students only know what they see on television or what they hear at home. This article goes into the importance it is to teach critical thinking and collaboration skills in order to understand social justice. These are skills that are important for other parts of life already and by using them in this way we can also use this time to learn about our students and their backgrounds. Teaching social justice in the classroom could also be tied into a community project and later into a writing assignment. The author of this article brings up great points on why we should incorporate social justice in our lessons and gives good ideas on how to do it.

Audience: Teachers, educators, anyone working with students in a group setting.

Relevance: Reminds us as educators that we need to allow our students to be individuals but help guide them to use their difference to work together as team players.
