Relevance: Present and future university students (student teachers and their own students) need to be aware of how higher education institutions often stigmatize conservatives and undermine intellectual diversity.  It's also interesting to think about how many teachers are influenced by their own university education and how they in turn influence their own students.

  1. This is a very interesting topic. I would hope with universities making visits to high schools, and parents encouraging their kids to explore the colleges and universities around them not only for their academic but their cultural values that they offer. I do believe colleges and Universities have their own personalities, and it is so important for the students to research, and visit before attending. I do think that their is the influence of the culture of the University on the students, but it is also advisable to continue to have a mind growth set for personal growth as well as professional growth.

I thought the idea of the self-selection of conservatives to conservative occupations, I believe the author used the word "money-grubbers" in his description, might be accurate, but for the number of evangelical and conservative colleges which exist. Certainly there are conservative and evangelical academics who are teaching in these colleges. This article caused me to ask where the great conservative thinkers are. Where are the evangelical minds that inform our greater sciences? Perhaps we do not give enough platform to conservatives and evangelicals on our campuses, but maybe people simply go to places of learning where others think most like them; where they feel most comfortable
