This is pretty cool. I feel like there is always a lot of attention on our students here in the U.S. because they are the most relative people in our effort to better education. It's unfortunate how often we lose sight of the global picture and how we can make a difference to kids that aren't our own.
The statistics mentioned in this article are upsetting to me and a sad reality. I appreciated learning more about “Let Girls Learn.” It is inspiring to learn about this more recent initiative that creates educational opportunities for girls. It acknowledges the individual, community, and institutional level for accessing education. From an educator stand point, we can create classroom environments that encourage participation and engagement from all students. It can be a safe space to learn no matter a student's gender. Gender biases that teachers hold can greatly influence the classroom climate.
